Our Surprise
When I was pregnant we were told the baby was going to be a boy. I always loved the name Noah. For the rest the pregnancy I kept refering to the baby as Noah Thomas. Well we were very shocked i delivered a baby girl. She is the sweetest thing my husband and I had ever seen. My husband and I both have the middle name Lee. So we decided to name her Leigha Mae. Not only is she named after her parents but she also has her great-grandmother's middle name.

Greek names
I love to read alot of greek and roman stories about heroes battling the gods. So when my son was born i named him Julius Alexander. Julius in roman meaning ultimate and Alexander in greek meaning Strength. I thought it would be a good name for him.But know that im having a girl, there aren't so many names in those stories that i like, so I'm going to name her Kassidy cause i think that she'll be just as clever as her daddy.

My Daughter--Alycia
Well, I decided that the name Alycia was very beautiful. Pronounced( A-lee-see-uh) but it looks a lot like the name Alicia, so now everybody, including myself and my daughter, call her -(A-lee-shuh), and we never correct anybody. In fact, she just assumes that is her name.

Finding a baby name
i was talking to my boyfreind about naming our little girl. He said he liked the name Paris. I told my parents i didnt like it so one day we were sitting at the table and my parents asked if he liked Paris Hilton. He said he loved her, and my parents started laughing. They always thought it was funny that he wanted to name our little girl after a celebrity that he thought was good looking.

Our litte Adia
For our first child, my husband and I could not agree on a girl's name. We had a boy's name all picked out and ready to go. Then we found out we were having a girl. So the search began. We wanted something new and different that we hadn't heard and couldn't relate to anyone we knew. At about 7 months along I was listening to Sarah McClaughen (not huge fans, only own the one CD) in my car, and the song Adia came on. I thought hmmmmm that's different. When I got home I looked up the meaning of the name in a baby book and it's Swahili for "a precious gift" which fit our first daughter perfectly. I never thought my husband would go for it, but right off the bat he said absolutely, I love it! So, February 2nd she was born - Adia Marie. Everyone who meets her loves her name and immediately asks where we got it!

Batman is on the way
Well you will see I have posted here before....We were expecting our 4th child by accident. My husband had Vasctomy, but two weeks later I found out Baby #4 was on the way! After getting used to the idea of another child, we started talking about names....Our oldest son Noah(6) would crawl into bed at night with us and say "Let's name the baby!" So for MANY MANY nights, my husband and I would start out taking turns suggesting baby names...each name Noah would say "no" to!! Picky child...... Then one night Noah said "How about Batman"....we laughed and said we can call the baby batman until we find out what the sex of the baby is....Noah told us it was a boy.... Guess what? It was a boy and so for the next 4 months our baby in utero was called Batman...EVERYONE was calling him Batman... Now Seth and I could not decided on a name. I like Jacob...but it was too common. We wanted a biblical name because all of our other children have Biblical names, and so do we...All by accident? Rebecca (me), Seth (dad), Noah (6), Isaac (4), Sarah (2) What would we name this baby? Noah and Isaac were insistant it be Batman. We even had people say that should be his middle name. I said "No, the poor child would grow up being teased." Then someone told us that Batman's character name was Bruce....Yuck.... but then the same person told us that Batman was played by Adam West..... Well, Adam is biblical, and I don't hear the name that often right now in kids....and it will always remind us of Batman and the story behind it!....Noah was extremely happy ...but still to this day, 11 months later, ADAM is still called BATMAN half of the time.... I just wanted to tell anyone considering Mid Coast Hospital for the delivery of their baby: "You will not be disappointed!" This is the GREATEST group of doctors and nurses; you will be 100% happy with the care you and your family will recieve here!

Don't Ask Me
When i found out I was having a boy I cried. I knew his name was Zachary Christopher Allan Lee. Ya I know, lots of names, but I just loved that name. So on June 3rd when I finally went into labor I went to the hospital and gave birth. After he was born the doctor had to put me to sleep because of complications and when I woke up my sons name wasn't what I had planned. While I was asleep I came up with Skylor Caleb. Now my son, 11 years old, said he would have been very upset with me if I would have given him that long name.

first baby
my name is Micoa Furr. My husband's name is Doug Furr; we have been married for 2 years and this is our first pregnancy. We have been trying to figure out what to name the baby. If it is a girl, my name is so unique that all of my friends including my husband says we should name the baby after me. At first, I was hesitant because everyone I come across spells my name wrong or mispronounces it. So i've been in prayer about it and the LORD told me that I should name her after me because it is such a unique name so we have decided to name her Micoa Monique Furr. It is a very beautiful name, and besides, I'm keeping the name in the family. You see my grandma named me 6 months before she died and though i never got a chance to meet my grandma. A part of her will live on forever!

Our Swedish names
Our baby's name is KAYSA ELISABET MAJ. In an American translation, it means Katherine Elizabeth Pearl. My grandparents are Swedish, and they are 87 and 83 years old now. I knew that it would mean a lot to them to give our daughter, their sixth great-grandchild, a Swedish name. KAYSA was a name that my husband and I just liked, and it means, "pure". The name ELISABET was my paternal great-grandmother's middle name, and the name MAJ is my paternal grandmother's name, (Pearl), in Swedish. Everyone seems to really like her name, and we hope that she does, too.....that is the important part!

A special place
When choosing a name for our third child, my husband and I wanted a geographical name so we searched our past and settled on Acadia. My parents were both from Maine and had their first date at Acadia National Park. My husband and I were engaged at Acadia National Park years later! This name is unusual, can be shortened to a cute "Cady" and brings back wonderful memories to us. Perhaps if we still lived in Maine we would not have wanted to use this name, but since we live in Michigan, I couldn't think of a more perfect name!

Our Little Angel
It was hard when I first found out I was pregnant. We couldnt decide what to name our new baby. When we found out that we were having a girl Rick and I both knew that having a girl is an absolute miracle! I concieved on the anniversary of my Great Grandmothers death. My fiance's mother had also passed away about 6 years ago of cancer, Her name was Julia. We figured we wouldn't have any trounle picking a name but the time came when our baby will be born any minute. When our daughter came into this world the doctor asked us what are you going to call your baby? We looked at eachother and said, "Julia AnnMarie! " She is the sweetest gift ever sent from up above.

All in the Family
I am a mother of five children (with one on the way!) and all of my kids have special names. My first child, Aimeka Nathiana, was named after her father, Nathan, and I, Aimee. My second child, Rachel Danielle, was named after her father, Ray. Our second child together, Samantha Ranee, has my middle name. My fourth child, Raymon Michael, also has his father's name. My last child is named Lauren India-Mae. I have always wanted to name one of my girls Lauren, and this middle name was chosen because it belongs to my great-great grandmother, Bessie Gertrude Olive India Mae, a strong, loving, and caring woman. I plan to name my next son with family-oriented style, too!

Doctors know best
My husband and I were very excited when we learned that baby number 4 was a boy! You would think after having 3 girls that we would already know what his name would be but we didn't. We went back and forth with many names and finally decided between Dawson or Jacob. My husband had always liked the name Jake, even though it was and still is very common. We agreed that we would wait and see what he looked like before choosing. I had my son late in the evening and we agreed we would make a decision in the morning. The next morning my son's doctor came in and asked how we were doing and I said fine but we still can't agree on a name. The doctor looked my son all over and said, "Well, I think he looks like a Jake." I looked at my husband and said, "I think he has a name now!" My son is almost 4 and all though his real name is Jacob, he goes by Jake and if you call him Jacob he will say, "I am Jake!"

It's a Wonderful Life...
My husband and I had our sons name picked years before he was born. Our favorite movie, if you hadn't guessed already is "It's a Wonderful Life" starring Jimmy Stewart (our all time favorite actor). We wanted to choose a name from his real name or his character name. His character name is George Bailey. We went through all four possible names. James has been overly used in my family so that was out. The name Stewart reminds us of a Mad TV comedy skit on Fox network, definitely out. You'll understand if you know the skit) Next was George which neither of us liked. We were left with Bailey, and that's what we chose. He is 16 months old now and if we could just start calling him by his real name instead of all the little nicknames we'd be fine....

How we named our Son!
I had an exetemly diffucuilt pregnancy. WE were in and our of Mid-Coast and Maine Medical center due to low or no fluid. I developed and infection and doctors were certin they would have to deliver our son at 31 weeks. This was very scary. My husband and I are not overly religouis however at birth we both recieved biblical names Seth and Rebecca. During my difficult pregancy I prayed to the Lord more than any other time in my whole life and begged for each and every day that our son could stay inside and grow stronger. When choosing a name from a hospital bed we tried to come up with names that couldn't be shortened. I wanted something that was strong and showed character. We stubbled across the name Noah and right then and there our son's name was decided. Not only because it was a strong, meaningful name from the bible, but because We truely felt God was going to protect our son....a few weeks after the name choosing my infection went away and I returned to Mid Coast Hospital and at 35 1/2 weeks delivered a 7 pound 3 1/2 ounce PERFECT BABY BOY named NOAH THOMAS PORTER. p.s. If you are trying to decided on a hospital look no further you will NOT find a better one than MID COAST. There NURSES and Doctors are the Best...From the moment you arrive you know people are cheering you on, supportive, and determinded to make this the most memroblile time in your life. Thank you MID COAST Rebecca Porter Mother of two Mid Coast babies and one on the way!

Our Only Choice!
When it came time to choose a name for our son, my husband suggested that I write down all of the names I liked. I studied the book of baby names and came up with a long list of choices. My husband, a teacher, took the list and immediately began crossing out name after name. "What's wrong with this name, or that name?" I asked in dismay. He told me that he was crossing off names he didn't like, or that reminded him of a memory of a former student he wouldn't want to associate with our new baby. Down through the list he went, and when he finished there was only one name that hadn't been eliminated: Colin! "Why didn't you cross out that name, too?" I asked. "I've never had a student named Colin," he answered with a smile.

Angela - a name from a dream
When we had our little Angela, now one year old, we were't sure what we would name her. My husband Tim thought that Kathie might be a good name.It was 2 am when our daughter was born. When I finally went to sleep, I had a dream about angels. The most beautiful angel told me that her name was Angela. When I woke up I knew what our baby should be named - Angela for the angel that I saw in my dreams.

Jacob
We named our son Jacob after my middle name. I am the Dad. My middle name came from my godfather whose name was Jacob. The funny thing is, everyone thought his name was Jack. That was to be my name until at the last minute my parents found out that his name was actually Jacob.
